# Declaring investments

> Declare tax-saving investments and house rent for the financial year, attach proofs, and track approval.

Declare your tax-saving investments (for example under 80C or 80D) and the rent you pay, so payroll deducts the right amount of tax. Your declaration goes for approval, and payroll uses the **Considered** amount.

Open it from **Self Service → Declare Investment**.

## What you'll see

- **Info** — the months in which declarations are open (set by HR).
- **Tax Regime** — the regime you're on. Investment declaration only applies to the old regime; under the new regime you'll see **Not Applicable**.
- A status banner — **Pending Approval**, approved, or rejected with a request to review and resubmit.
- For each investment item: the **Declared Amount**, the **Considered Amount** (what was accepted) and any attached **Documents**.

## How to declare

1. **Choose the financial year** — Pick the year, then select **Declare Investment**.
2. **Enter amounts** — Under **DECLARE INVESTMENTS**, enter the amount against each investment you've made.
3. **Attach proofs** — Select **Add Documents** under an investment to attach receipts or certificates.
4. **Declare house rent** — Under **HOUSE RENT PAID**, enter the rent for each month and select **Attach Rent Receipts**.

5. **Save** — Select **Save Investment Declaration**. You'll see **Investment declaration saved successfully.**

## File rules

- Each file must be under **4 MB**.
- Allowed: images (JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, BMP) and documents (PDF, DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, TXT, CSV).
- Every investment with an attached document needs an amount, and if you attach rent receipts you must enter rent for at least one month.

> **Tip:** Declare at the start of the year with expected amounts so tax is spread evenly, then update with actual proofs before payroll's cut-off.
